Enrichment involves allowing students to work deeper into a topic or subject beyond the often superficial treatment given in textbooks, especially at Junior Certificate level. Exceptionally Able children will often grasp material and concepts much quicker than children of average ability. In such circumstances a Gifted child can become bored, distracted and/or disruptive. Allowing them to explore more deeply their interest in a topic can lead to increased on-task activity, a more fulfilling classroom experience and facilitate their growth towards achieving their potential.
